Placing in three categories this year, Carelli’s of Boulder has “developed quite a local following,” said Greg Carelli, who opened his namesake eatery as a sub shop in 1991. Today interspersed fireplaces, birch wood accents, mosaic tiles and warm lighting create an intimate, unpretentious ambience, and the classic Northern and Southern Italian dishes please diverse palates. The menu features classics such as chicken parmigiana and manicotti as well as original pasta dishes such as Scozzi, a lighter dish with sautéed chicken, artichoke hearts and broccoli. “Fresh fish specials and risotto dishes are also customer favorites,” Carelli said. An extensive gluten-free menu, wine list and melt-in-the-mouth desserts ensure everyone leaves happy. During this season, Carelli’s has socially distanced their tables and is offering patio seating and curbside to-go meals. 645 30th St., Boulder, 303.938.9300, carellis.com.
